Swarthmore Society of Engineers Pranks

I served as the President of the Swarthmore Society of Engineers (SSE) from 2017-2020. During my tenure, I oversaw the construction of the notorious engineering student pranks, which occur every year around April 1st. They make up my largest personal engineering projects.

Our 2018 prank desk needed to safely support the weight of a group of students; but it also needed to be built in multiple component parts to facilitate speedy construction. I used CAD to create an original design that included metal support columns and a platform that I reinforced with internal wooden cross beams, like the underside of a roof. I also performed all of the material sourcing, part tracking and welding. The entire 6 foot tall desk was erected in a few hours by a team of students, and could safely withstand 6 people sitting on it. As for its function as an actual desk, that remains to be seen.

Our 2019 prank, shown in the bottom pictures, is self explanatory.
